Removing Your Makeup

Do you like waking up in the morning with clean and glowing skin? Then it’s essential that you remove all your makeup from the previous night. Your skin will thank you for it.

Going to bed with makeup on can lead to clogged pores, dry skin, acne, and wrinkles. That’s just face makeup. Eye makeup left on can cause another set of problems such as eye infections, eye irritation, styes, and watery eyes. It’s imperative that you remove your makeup if you want healthy, good looking skin. The best way to remove makeup will depend on your skin type, the types of makeup products and the amount you use, but here are some options that should help you achieve pretty good results.

CLEANSER: Use a good quality daily cleanser to remove foundation and blush. Massage a few drops of the cleanser over your skin and let it sit for 10 to 20 seconds. Wipe with a wet cotton washcloth. Keep scrubbing gently until no more blush or foundation comes off on the washcloth. The SilcSkin Cleanser is particularly effective in removing even the toughest waterproof makeup without drying out or irritating the skin. The SilcSkin Cleanser is also fragrance free, dye free, alcohol free, and hypo-allergenic.

STEAM HEAT: Try steaming your face before washing. One way you can do this is to fill up a bowl with hot water and hover your face over it for a few minutes. The steam will loosen up your pores, making it easier for the cleanser to penetrate your skin deeper to help remove that stubborn makeup. Add some natural scent, such as lavendar essential oils to create a soothing effect.

BABY WIPES: Avoid using these. Wipes are not effective at getting rid of all the makeup. Even though they can be used on sensitive skin, they do not contain the special ingredients that are required for the removal of makeup.

FINALLY: After you’ve removed your makeup, gently wipe the skin again using a dry cotton pad. This will make sure you get rid of any remaining makeup residue. Use an oil-based makeup remover to get rid of lipstick.

NATURAL SOLUTIONS: Plant based oils can help with makeup removal as well. Many of these oils help to repair the skin, and have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Some of these are almond oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, hemp oil, jojoba oil, oilve oil and rosehip oil.
