Fall Skin Care

The Fall season requires a regimented skin care routine. There’s a drop in the humidity and the weather gets colder and drier, and the last thing you need is your skin getting rough and flaky. With that in mind, here are our recommendations for healthy, moist and younger looking skin:

SPA TREATMENT:
Treat yourself to a spa treatment. A facial in the new season will help with the exfoliation process. A skin-sloughing agent is the best way to treat parched, flaky skin and stimulate natural oil production and Fall is a great time to introduce a face or body scrub once or twice a week. This will help your skin get ready for the upcoming weather.

Spas this time of year add seasonal items to their list of services. Spiced Cider Pumpkin Massage, Apple Cider Sugar Scrub, Caramel-Covered Apple Wrap…these treatments cater to the Fall season, and are beneficial as well. Pumpkin enzymes, for example, help slough away dull skin layers and increase cell regeneration and apple cider vinegar helps to fight acne.

MOISTURIZER:
You may have been using a lighter skin moisturizing lotion in the Summer, but in the Fall, you really need to bring out something more heavy duty to prevent moisture loss. Consider switching out your moisturizer for a balm or an oil. Jojoba oil, for instance is great because it doesn’t leave an oily residue behind. If you’re more inclined to use a lotion, try a lotion that has a thicker consistency and is more hydrating. Make sure you have some on hand when you’re out of the home. You skin tends to dry up quickly in the Fall air.

MASKING:
Fall is a great time to repeat your masking routine. Look for a solution that has complexion boosting ingredients, such as a hydrating mask with aloe. Anything hydrating is great to incorporate into your weekly regimen, as well as anything with olive and jojoba oils.

TONERS:
A toner — a lotion or wash — is a great way to go in the Fall season. A toner is designed to cleanse the skin and shrink the appearance of pores, usually on the face. Toners that are alcohol free are a perfect way to give your skin the hydration it needs when the weather turns cooler. Wipe the toner over your skin after cleansing and immediately apply serum or moisturizer while its still damp to seal in the hydration.

As the weather turns from moderately cold to windy and chilly, make sure that your skin is protected. This will ensure that wrinkles are kept at bay, and your skin will be smooth and soft all year ’round!
