The development of wrinkles maybe contributed to these three components; collagen depletion, muscle use and loss of moisture. Our skin is exposed to Free Radicals, such as UV radiation from the sun and air pollution. These free radicals lead to the degeneration of collagen, a protein found in the skin that keeps it elastic and healthy. The collagen and elastin fibers in the skin start to deplete as well as lose its natural moisture. Muscle use, including everyday expressions like frowning and smiling also leads to wrinkles while the effects of gravity loosen the skin causing it to sag. Mix in smoking and not replenishing your body with natural fluids such as water can speed up the aging process and enhance the formation of wrinkles.
SilcSkin Decollette Pads and Facial Pads are designed to combat these three causes of wrinkles. They keep the skin taut while preventing the skin from forming wrinkles in the first place. The silicone pads also contribute to hydrating the skin by drawing the skins own moisture to the surface. Also, the electro-static energy provided by wearing the pads is believed to improve irregular collagen structure; creating increased blood flow, which results in an improved skin tone.
Other tips I swear by…
Protect your skin from the sun.
Protecting your skin from the sun is essential for developing healthy skin; prevent wrinkles and other signs of aging. It is important to choose sunscreen with a high enough SPF for your skin type. I always choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 50 for my face. I also like to buy sunscreen that is made especially for faces. These kinds of sunscreens are designed to be less greasy and absorb easily, which is great for your face.
Foods that are high in antioxidants help counteract a decrease in collagen, elasticity and firmness in aging skin. Tomatoes are an excellent wrinkle prevention food because they contain lycopene, a substance that also decreases the risk of developing cancer. Red peppers have loads of Vitamin A and Vitamin E, as well as bioflavonoids, which moisturize and heal the skin. Beets and carrots (and other red and dark orange vegetables) are also great foods to consume if you want to prevent wrinkles.
Also rich in antioxidants, kale contains iron that helps bring oxygen to the skin and vitamin A that wards off premature aging. Blueberries are another excellent source of antioxidants.
Salmon contains a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids that reduces inflammation and lubricates the skin. It’s also important not to smoke and to drink four to six glasses of water a day in order to keep your skin looking young and wrinkle free.
One of the most difficult signs of aging is of course dry skin. Drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water daily is a good start. Water flushes out toxins as well as hydrates the body, especially after working out or doing daily activities.
Dream away wrinkles!
Most people know a good night’s sleep makes one look rested and even healthier. Sleep is when the body makes repairs to damaged cells from Free Radicals. The cells in your body produce more protein while you are sleeping. As a result, these protein molecules form building blocks for your cells that allow repairing the damage. Improve the process of repairing your skin by wearing your SilcSkin anti-wrinkle pads every night!
