SilkSkin

SilcSkin is a manufacturer of medical-grade silicone products that are used as a non-invasive method of reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, crepey skin, scars, and burns. The medical industry has used silicone to treat scarring for more than 30 years. SilcSkin has utilized this same proven technology to treat wrinkles. SilcSkin pads are applied topically to the affected areas of the skin, preferably while the subject is sleeping. While results can occur overnight, optimum results are obtained through prolonged use — 5 to 7 hours daily wear for approximately two weeks. SilcSkin also includes an anti-wrinkle cream in its product line, and a hyaluronic acid serum is currently in production.

The SilcSkin Story

CAMILLE CALVET
ENTREPRENEUR / MOTHER / WIFE / TWO TIME EMMY AWARD WINNING MAKEUP ARTIST / THYROID CANCER SURVIVOR

How does a young girl obsessed with the entertainment industry go from special effects make up to running a wildly successful beauty company? When Camille Della Santina was thirteen years old, she had a strong conviction that she would be a screen writer, and worked hard in school towards her dream. She read every book on film making she could get her hands on and urged her parents to take her to the movie theaters as often as they could. The notion of writing and going through the process of watching her characters and narrative come to life fascinated and intrigued her through Junior High, all the way to college.

EMMY AWARD WINNING MAKEUP ARTIST
Camille Calvet is an industry veteran, working as a makeup artist on some of the biggest blockbuster movies. Armed with a background in special effects and also beauty make up, Camille became a sought after talent, and was able to bring her skills to shows such as — Ted 2, Inglorious Bastards, Kill Bill: Vol. 2, Austin Powers in Goldmember, Minority Report, Vanilla Sky, The Cell, Star Trek: First Contact, and TV series like Star Trek, Firefly, The Stand, Eerie, Indiana, The Bold & The Beautiful and many others.

DEVELOPING THE DECOLLETTE PAD
In 1998, Camille set out to develop a prototype of the original silicone Decollette Pad. She discovered that once she took off the silicone prosthetics the actors were wearing, their skin underneath looked smoother and healthier.

This discovery was further invigorated by her doctor recommending that she apply silicone gel sheets to her thyroid surgery scar. She realized that after a short amount of time, the scar was less noticeable, and the surrounding skin looked smooth.

QUALITY FIRST
In the initial years when Camille was developing the Decollette Pad, she found inconsistencies with the quality of the silicone. At this time she was outsourcing the production to an overseas manufacturer. Concerned with the quality of the product, Camille decided to move all manufacturing to Los Angeles and subsequently chose a manufacturer with whom she could work closely to ensure the best quality. She opted for platinum cured silicone — a more expensive method of refining the raw silicone which left no byproducts and resulted in a stronger and longer lasting pad.

Nothing is outsourced to offshore companies. Everything — including the packaging is made locally in California.
